It is among the Australia’s Big Four Banks and is also the second largest bank in New Zealand. Incorporated in 1817, the Bank of New South Wales (BNSW) was the first bank in Australia. For 2 centuries, it operated through its various branches in Australia and Oceania. In 1982, BNSW merged with the Commercial Bank of Australia and was renamed as WestPac Banking Corporation.
